Director, Supply Chain (Food Industry Exp. Required)

The Supply Chain Director will be responsible for planning, directing and coordinating all supply chain functions—including procurement of product ingredients, packaging supplies, materials/inventory management and in/outbound logistics for all locations.  The Supply Chain Director will work closely with the Operations, Sales and Quality teams to maximize plant efficiencies.
  • Oversees all planning and scheduling activities with a focus to optimize
  • Develop and implement a robust demand planning tool
  • Work closely with Sales and Quality on new sales and products
  • Provide input into staffing and capacity needs in order to maximize productivity and efficiency
  • Maintain systems to ensure inventory optimization and appropriate replenishment strategies
  • Work with sales team to develop a robust forecasting tool
  • Develop and implement forecasting process
Purchasing / Supplier Management
  • Responsible for efficient and accurate MRP process
  • Negotiate strategic purchasing agreements that result in cost reductions
  • Identify primary and alternate sources for all large or strategic ingredient categories
  • Work with quality manager to qualify suppliers and to monitor their performance
  • Monitor prices of major commodities and analyze impact based on annual usage and reports
  • Monitor significant trends, changes in suppliers and prices to capitalize on opportunities and/or protect company positions
  • Research and identify non-standard ingredients and assist in developing new sources of supply
  • Ensure customer goods move through production at lowest cost
  • Develop partnerships with outside carriers
  • Work with Sales team on pricing and pricing strategy
  • Negotiate strategic agreements with carriers 
  • Establish KPI’s for all team members
  • Coach team to success
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, or other related discipline
  • 10+ years of Demand Planning and Purchasing
  • 5+ years of successful supervisory experience—must be a leader
  • Ability to read, understand, provide edits and input on communications in regards to services issues with internal and external customers
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the capacity to interface effectively with managers and staff at all levels
  • Ability to be proactive, hands-on, detail-oriented and foster collaboration through teamwork
  • A creative problem solver who will bring analytical and abstract reasoning skills to this action-oriented culture
  • Able to build relationships and inspire others
  • Ability to communicate effectively and work well in a team-based environment
