Corporate Accountant (Holding Companies)

St. Louis, MO
Overview:

This position is responsible general accounting duties for the organization’s Holdings Companies and will support the Corporate segment.
The successful candidate will be detail-oriented with strong analytic and communication skills to handle inquiries from both internal and external sources.  The successful candidate should be able to multi-task effectively, manage instructions from various stakeholders and meet reporting deadlines. 
 
Core Functions:
  • Month End Close responsibilities:
    • Includes financial statement preparation and analysis;
    • manage outsourced service provider with journal entry preparation and review, intercompany reconciliation and general ledger account reconciliations;
    • manage actual vs. budget variance analysis with clear and actionable explanations
  • Monitor SGA spend and aid with SGA forecasting and budgeting in COGNOS
  • Provide assistance to the Senior Manager, Management Reporting and Information
    • Including administration of the management fee program; stock compensation footnote preparation; Annual Incentive Plan (AIP) bonus calculation
  • Quarterly and Annual Reporting Schedules preparation
  • Preparation of monthly forecasts and annual budgets
  • Manage AP process as SPOC with service provider
  • Assist with Special Projects as needed
  • Serves as one of the primary contacts with our third-party service provider of accounting functions
 
Qualifications/Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting with 3 years general accounting experience required
  • Strong computer skills required including working knowledge of MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint
  • Working knowledge of SAP and HFM preferred
  • Demonstrated analytical, detail accuracy and problem solving skills
  • Strong communication skills including listening, verbal and written with the ability to interact at multiple levels of the organization
  • Ability to work overtime as necessary for month end reporting as well as the annual budget process  
  • Demonstrated ability to operate and thrive in a fast-paced work environment
  • Ability to simultaneously manage multiple ongoing projects, set priorities and meet deadlines
  • Ability to understand the interconnectivity between systems and act on this understanding to solve discrepancies
